A Life Coaches Guide To Winning if you want to win in life

win at work and succeed at life

Some years ago I took on the role of coaching my son’s team. The only way I would agree to do it though was by getting each of the players to sign a written agreement that they would attend all training sessions. If I was to invest my time in assisting them, they needed to make a commitment to the team and to myself.

I appointed a Manager, who was one of the fathers of one of the team members, and three of the best players to assist me as assistant coaches.

My aim then was to create a vision for winning, to take a group of individuals and form them into a team, and to concentrate on getting them fit – conditioning them so that they could last the distance with a limited number of injuries throughout the season.

Although not hugely talented as individual players we were able to forge a team of winners who became minor premiers that year.

principles that helped you to win at work and succeed at life

Those same principles that helped this team win can be applied to living a successful life.

A Vision For Winning

It’s a fact that without a vision people perish. Without a goal you will lack purpose and direction.

Each time I have expanded my business, or entered a new industry, I have needed to renew my vision. And it is the vision that has allowed me to grow and to expand.

First the vision, then the reality.

So if you want to win in life you first need to get a vision of winning. See yourself succeeding. Write down the life you see yourself living. Review it regularly and then step out of the boat and walk on the water. You will not drown. The vision will carry you through storm and wind. And before you know it, you will be living the vision and be ready to create yet another vision that goes even further beyond your wildest dreams.

Even to this day I will sit down quietly with my journal and jot down the dreams that I am in pursuit.

Play As A Team

You can’t do life alone. Solitude is useful for recharge and strengthening, and then it is time to get back into the game.

A successful businessman once told me that the day he started to become rich was the very first day he hired someone in his business.

In business I employ people, and yet at the same time I outsource to others on a contractual basis. In this day and age, in business, we have the world at our fingertips – and our team can be sourced from around the globe.

You and I can’t do everything. So it is far better to stick with our talents and then hire those gifted in other areas. This frees us to then concentrate on what we do best, and sets the tone for a winning result with the assistance of a winning team.

Some years later I coached another team of young men. The captain of this soccer team was a magnificent player, extremely gifted and talented and yet when he gained possession of the ball he would never share it with his fellow teammates. In his mind, and through his actions he was a one-man team. No wonder that his team never excelled like the first team that I coached.

Condition Yourself For The Game Of Life

If you do not spend the correct time in preparation you could find yourself running out of steam. So spend time building your heart, your mind and your spirit. As the good book says, you find more about a person in a crisis than at any other time. That’s when the true character of an individual is revealed.

So be prepared by soaking yourself in a positive environment, reading positive books and being surrounded by positive groups of people.

One day, while I was interviewing a salesperson for my business, for some reason he asked me how I dealt with stress. My response was ‘I pray’.

Prayer is one vital part of conditioning that has carried me through some of the roughest and treacherous periods of my life. But the habit of prayer also sustains me when the seas of my life are calm. Whether rough or smooth I have learnt to condition my life by drawing aside regularly for times of prayer and for the study of wisdom literature.

Success is not all about the push and shove. It is very much built upon the foundations of a life filled with peace and serenity.

This is how you win in life.
