3 Steps Towards for Successful Living

I read a quote by Sydney Smith – ‘Take short views, hope for the best, and trust God.’

But before I share my thoughts I must qualify what I mean by my title that includes the two words ‘outrageously successful’.

This is far greater than money – for I have known wealthy men and women who have had families filled with hatred. And yet I have been in the company of those who are poor and yet their homes were filled with laughter. Success to me must include every single aspect of life – physical, mental, spiritual, financial and social – if it is to be outrageously successful.

What else is there to hope for? But yes there have been times in my life when I have landed in the depths of despair. I have known what it is to look at a life that lies ahead of me and wonder if anything is ever going to change.

My desire for you as my reader is that you become rich in each and every area of your life from this day forward – and it is for that reason that I share these words of wisdom with you.

Open your mind, for to those who are open to new thoughts and possibilities are those who are going to experience the greatest success in the next two to five years in every area of your life.

Now for my thoughts about this quotation…

  1. Take Short Views

By taking short views I’m reminded of the need to take each day, one day at a time.

I am a proponent of having long-term goals and I do have yearly goals and those that stretch ahead into the next 5 and 10 years and even to the day that I am in my eightieth year. I have a desire to live until I am 104 but I’m yet to work on those goals – to that extent as yet.

But when it comes to each day I have found that the simple process of writing the numbers one through six on each day in my diary or on a blank sheet of paper -and then by writing down the 6 most important things that I need to do that day, to propel me forward in my life and business, are all that it takes. As I complete each assigned task I tick them off. If any don’t get done that day they are then transferred to the very next day. I have been doing this now for over a decade and it makes you super productive.

By doing the short day-to-day activities well I can start to look back over the long that represents my life and see significant progress. Little by little we possess our land and our future.

  1. Hope For The Best

What else is there to hope for? But yes there have been times in my life when I have landed in the depths of despair. I have known what it is to look at a life that lies ahead of me and wonder if anything is ever going to change.

But from deep within has arisen hope. And that hope was and is the anchor of my soul. It is the light that reached down into the darkness. It is the hope that plucked me up and out of the miry clay. It is that hope that renewed my hope and transported me from where I was to where I am now – which was my unknown future.

Hang on to hope. Hold tight to your dream. View your vision and hope for nothing less than the best.

Without hope your life will be hopeless. This is a fact, because I have friends and family who died prematurely because of one and one thing only. They lost all hope.

  1. Trust The General Of The Universe

To all those who call themselves atheists or agnostics – go and watch the latest film ‘Life Of Pi’.

For over five decades I have experienced the power of the miraculous in my life too many times. I have seen too many sunrises. I have listened to too many birds sing. I experienced the birth of my children and of late the birth of my first grandchild. I have travelled to too many nations around the world for me to not be totally convinced that there is someone greater than me running this show.

Do I understand it all? Do I have all the answers? Can I win every theological argument that you may throw my way?

No.

But I do have faith.

My favorite song is: ‘Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.’ and I sing it to my adult children as well as to my grandchild – for it is He who saved me from despair and hopelessness and filled my heart with peace. For God so loved the world that He gave Jesus His only son to die for us so that we would not perish, but rather receive eternal life.

My faith is a simple faith – uncomplicated – filled with trust and forged in the fires of life’s furnace.

But whether you are Hindu, Moslem, or Calathumpian I will love and respect you for who you are – one of God’s created magnificence – worthy of my prayers and kindness.

I call God the General of the Universe and I follow his instructions because He promises me that the blessings on my life will come as a direct result of my obedience to His instructions. But my life is not ruled by a rod of iron, but rather drawn by a staff, that which shepherds of old protected their sheep, a staff of love.

Read:

Although I have questioned Him I have never lost my trust in Him.

God is trustworthy. And even when we doubt His ways, He never loses faith in us. He loves us. He secures us. He turns our darkness into light and our despair into hope. He takes our poverty and restores the richness in our life. He is ever faithful when others let us down.

Turn to Him and you will never be disappointed. This is the testimony of my life and I know that He is true to his word – for He says that he will never leave me nor forsake me.

He will not. He will not. He will not.

He has not!
