Success Is For The Self-Reliant: How Self-Reliance Builds Your Self-Confidence

Great Thoughts What is Self-Reliance and How to Develop It?

It has been my personal experience and observation of humanity that it is those who are self reliant who achieve far greater things in this life when compared to those who are always looking to others for their ‘step up’ as it were.

Success Is For The Self-Reliant: How Self-Reliance Builds Your Self-Confidence

I know of people who are always waiting for the next job offer in order to move ahead. Now I have no problem with having a job, although I personally have avoided such a sentence for many a year.

But this day and age of the entrepreneur, where you can start a business with simply an email address and an idea, the need for self-reliance is becoming more and more evident.

I have always taught my children to be self-reliant. That is why even at the youthful age of nine I challenged one of my children to go into business. All my children, from the time they could walk, assisted me in distributing advertising leaflets into letterboxes in our local neighborhood.

We prayed that God would bless our efforts, but we also got off our backsides and worked hard. This is what I mean when I speak of self-reliance, and many of the great minds that have lived think exactly the same.

Even when I give to those less fortunate than myself I make sure that I am not just giving a handout – but rather a hand up. For as someone once wisely said, that if you give a man a fish he will eat for a day, but if you teach him to fish he will eat for a lifetime.
